FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can therapy help?

Therapy can be a transformative journey towards improved mental and emotional well-being. By providing a safe and confidential space, therapy offers individuals the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained professional. Through this process, therapy can help individuals gain deeper self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and learn effective communication skills. Therapy helps equip individuals with the tools and insights needed to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and clarity.

Additionally, therapy can foster personal growth, promote healthier relationships, and empower individuals to live more authentic and fulfilling lives. With the guidance and support of a compassionate therapist, individuals can embark on a path of healing, self-discovery, and positive change.

How long will I need to participate in therapy before I feel better?

The duration of therapy varies greatly depending on individual circumstances, the nature of the issues being addressed, and personal goals.  Progress is unique to each person, and there's no one-size-fits-all timeline for feeling better. Some individuals may experience significant improvement after just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term support to achieve their desired outcomes.

I will work collaboratively with you to establish realistic expectations and milestones, regularly assessing your progress and adjusting treatment as needed. Ultimately, the goal of therapy is not just to "feel better" in the short term, but to foster lasting positive changes that enhance your overall well-being and resilience in the long run.

What can I expect to happen in a therapy session?

In a therapy session you can expect a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express your thoughts, emotions, and concerns. I will listen attentively, providing support and guidance as you explore your experiences and work towards your goals. Sessions typically begin with a discussion of what you’d like to address or focus on, followed by collaborative exploration and reflection.

Depending on your needs and preferences, I may introduce various techniques and exercises to help you gain insight, develop coping skills, and foster personal growth. Throughout the session, you'll be encouraged to engage actively in the therapeutic process, sharing your thoughts and feelings openly. By the end of each session, you can expect to leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and actionable strategies to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.

May I include family members in my therapy sessions?

Incorporating family members into counseling sessions can be a powerful tool for fostering understanding, communication, and healing within relationships. I recognize the importance of addressing family dynamics and offer the option to include loved ones in your therapy sessions when appropriate.

Whether you're navigating conflicts, transitions, or seeking to strengthen bonds, involving family members can provide valuable insights and support. I can facilitate these sessions with sensitivity and skill, creating a safe space for open dialogue and collaboration.

Do you take health insurance?

I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield (with the exception of Blue Value and Blue Local), State Health Plan, Aetna, United Healthcare, UMR and Cigna.

Co-payments or deductibles are due at the time of service.  If you do not have any of these insurance plans, I am happy to assist you by providing a coded receipt that you may submit to your insurance company to seek out-of-network reimbursement. Many insurance companies have out-of-network benefits that reimburse a percentage of the session cost.
